EPA 2027 NOx Regulations Update
Isuzu's N-Series Diesel trucks will not meet 2027 NOx regulations during the 2027 calendar year. Isuzu is currently developing a compliant N-Series Diesel solution, but it is not targeted for release until early 2028, meaning customers may need to plan ahead to avoid operational disruptions.
In the meantime, Isuzu's current N-Series Gas lineup is well aligned with upcoming regulations, and a next-generation N-Series Gas truck, featuring GM's new 6.6L engine designed to meet future NOx standards, is targeted for launch in early 2027. The F-Series FTR and FVR will continue using the proven Cummins B6.7 engine through the 2028 model year, with broader updates to follow once next-generation powertrain timing is finalized.

Who makes Isuzu trucks and where are they manufactured?
Isuzu trucks are produced by Isuzu Motors Ltd., headquartered in Yokohama, Japan. Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, a subsidiary of Isuzu North America Corporation, distributes Isuzu commercial trucks in the United States.
Isuzu N-Series Diesel trucks are manufactured in Japan and imported into North America. The N-Series Gas, N-Series EV and F-Series models are currently assembled by The Shyft Group in Charlotte, Michigan.
Isuzu is also opening a 1-million-square-foot production facility in Greenville, South Carolina. Scheduled to begin production in 2027, the facility will take over production of the N-Series Gas, N-Series EV and F-Series trucks.
What is a low cab forward truck?
A low cab forward truck positions the cab above the engine and places the driver closer to the front of the vehicle. This design provides excellent forward visibility, a tight turning radius, and greater maneuverability in urban areas and tight spaces.
Because the cab takes up less of the vehicle’s overall length, a low cab forward truck can also accommodate a longer body without increasing its overall footprint. The cab tilts forward to provide access to the engine for maintenance and repairs.
Which Isuzu truck is right for my business?
The right Isuzu truck depends on your payload, body configuration, route, fuel preference and application. Isuzu N-Series trucks are available in Class 3–5 configurations with GVWRs ranging from 12,000 to 19,500 pounds. The Isuzu F-Series offers Class 6 and Class 7 configurations with GVWRs of 25,950 or 33,000 pounds.

What engines are in Isuzu trucks?
Isuzu NPR, NPR-HD, NQR and NRR gas models are powered by a GMPT L8T 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine that produces 350 horsepower and 425 lb.-ft. of torque.
Isuzu NPR-HD, NPR-XD and NRR diesel models feature an Isuzu 4HK1-TC 5.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 215 horsepower and 452 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Isuzu FTR and FVR are powered by a Cummins B6.7 6.7-liter turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 260 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque.
Does Isuzu make electric trucks?
Yes. Isuzu launched its first battery-electric truck, the NRR EV, in August 2024. This Class 5 medium-duty truck has a GVWR of 19,500 pounds and is available with four battery configurations ranging from 60 to 180 kWh. Depending on the battery configuration, the estimated driving range is 41 to 235 miles.
What safety features are available on Isuzu trucks?
Available Isuzu safety features vary by model and configuration. Depending on the truck, features may include an automatic emergency braking system, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, following-distance warning, electronic stability control and anti-slip regulation.
